Kutchan is celebrating this year’s snowfall with its annual Yukitopia Snow Festival.

This year the festival is being held at Kutchan Town’s Central Park on Saturday 17 February from 10am – 4.30pm and on Sunday 18 February from 10am – 2.30pm.

The attractions include being pulled on an inflatable tube behind a snowmobile, a giant snow slide, treasure hunts, snow kick bike trail rides, food stalls and several performances on a central stage, including by the Hokkaido idol group WONDER*WHITE.

There is also a related but separate, ticketed BBQ event at the same space on 17 February from 5 – 7pm called Gosetsu Yakiniku (Snowy BBQ).

Each JPY12,000 (US$79.62) Gosetsu Yakiniku ticket comes with a meat and vegetable BBQ feast for up to four people complete with a grill for cooking, the Japanese liquor shochu, hot water for mixing and hot tea.

Gosetsu Yakiniku also will have a raffle and a concert by Team Crerekko!, a Sapporo-based idol group.
