A condominium is coming to the site of the former Hotel Niseko Alpen.

Tokyu Land Corporation, which purchased the Kutchan Town-owned land, made the official announcement on 1 November, detailing plans for a 26,350sqm (7,971 tsubo) facility with seven stories above ground and two below.

Although the sale of the property happened in January of this year, the Hotel Niseko Alpen continued operating through the 2022/23 winter season, closing in March.

The new Tokyu condominium will have over twice the floor space as the Hotel Niseko Alpen, with significantly larger rooms, available for both purchase and guest stays, averaging around 100sqm (30 tsubo) in size.

The development will also include a public restaurant, pool, Japanese onsen (hot spring) bath and other guest-exclusive amenities.

As announced in October of 2022, Tokyu Land Corporation will also construct a new 10-seat gondola for guests to access the next-door Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu Ski Resort.

While the gondola is anticipated to be ready for the winter 2024/25 season, the condominium’s opening – originally targeted for 2026 – may be delayed by a year due to a shortage of labour.
