REAL ESTATE NEWS
Many of Japan’s high-end hotel brands are opening new locations to appeal to high-net-worth foreign visitors.
As Nikkei Asia reports, this includes the Palace Hotel, which plans on more than doubling the number of hotels it manages by 2030, and The Imperial Hotel, which is planning a new location in Kyoto.
These goals are in tandem with the national government’s plans to coax inbound visitors to spend more and in response to a shortage of luxury properties in Japan compared to current demand, which has been rising as tourism rebounds while the yen is historically weak.
This last October, the Japan National Tourism Organization reported more overseas visitors than the same period in 2019.
Another benefit for Japan’s luxury hotel brands is that if more people become familiar with them, there is greater opportunity for those brands to expand overseas.
