A foreign couple in Niseko was arrested for suspected cocaine smuggling by the Organized Crime Division of the Hokkaido Prefectural Police.
According to The Hokkaido Shimbun, this was the second arrest for the couple, made up of Spanish and Dutch nationals.
The suspects are accused of sending 3.6 grams of cocaine and 1.5 grams of ketamine by post from Spain to a shared house in Niseko.
The couple were first reported to Hakodate Customs on 1 March, leading to an investigation by several Hokkaido law enforcement departments.
A raid on their house on 11 March led to the discovery of 6.8 grams of marijuana, and the couple’s arrest on marijuana possession charges as well.
