Niseko Warehouse Group 1
NISEKO NEWS
By Thomas Shomaker

A coworking space in Niseko has reopened with a campsite aesthetic.

The location is a former starch factory in the The Niseko Central Warehouse Complex, a group of six buildings constructed from the early 1930s to early 1980s.

As part of an effort by Niseko’s government to promote telework by Niseko visitors and settlement here by young people and families, use of the first floor, where wifi and power supplies are available, is free.

Also on the first floor is a kids’ play area so parents can work while keeping an eye on their children, or simply take their kids for an indoor playdate.

The coworking space debuted last year, but upon reopening this year many of the desks and chairs have been replaced with campsite-style seating and low tables, according to reporting by The Hokkaido Shimbun.

In addition to the free coworking area, there is also a dedicated telework booth and a multipurpose room with large monitors and printers that are available for a rental fee.

The Niseko Central Warehouse Group’s other buildings also offer a 288sqm (81.1 tsubo) event space, a lawn, an indoor social space and an activity room, all available for rental.
