Yukimine is a two-storey chalet set in Kabayama’s peaceful, tree-lined streets, modest on the outside yet warm and cozy within. Yukimine combines the quiet grace of modern Japanese house design with a few rustic winter lodge touches. Wooden floors, ceilings, support pillars and exposed roof beams help each space feel a little like a warm hug on a cold winter’s day. Underfloor heating and double glazed windows throughout help keep you toasty warm as well!
Yukimine’s living areas are all on the ground floor, while bedrooms are upstairs. The entrance leads straight into the open-plan living area with lounge suite, dining and kitchen area. Here’s a rarity in modern Niseko chalets, a real wood log fire in the living room! The sofas are angled so you can sit back and enjoy the logs crackling on the fire, watch the TV, or just soak in the snowy scenery outside. Should the sun come out, there’s also a lovely deck terrace where you can enjoy the forest surrounds. Rounding out the functional features, Yukimine has a laundry with free washer and dryer, and a drying area for your skis and gear. The undercover garage is an extra treat for snowy Niseko, and will save you having to dig out your car before you hit the slopes.
Upstairs you’ll find three bedrooms in varying styles: two are western bedrooms, while a third is a Japanese-style tatami room. The tatami room comes complete with traditional shikkui plaster walls and fusama window screens, and lets you put your bedding away during the day. The master bedroom and bathroom upstairs even show glimpses of Mt Yotei visible through the trees – perfect!

BEDROOM 1
Located on the upper floor, the first bedroom offers western bedding and sleeps two guests in either one king or two singles, depending on your needs. This room has a lovely wooden slanted ceiling that creates a sense of space. There’s also a bedside table, a small seating nook, and a closet for storage. The en suite bathroom has a bath and separate shower, as well as two washstands, a toilet and windows looking out towards the forests surrounding Kabayama.

BEDROOM 2
Also located on the upper floor, the second bedroom sleeps two guests in either one king or two single beds, also in western bedding. This room is a little smaller than the master suite, but also benefits from the slanted ceilings that add a sense of space and grandeur to all the upstairs rooms. There is a closet for storage, and windows on two sides of the room letting in plenty of natural light. There is a shared bathroom just across the hall, with two washstands, a shower and a separate toilet for convenience.

The last bedroom on the upper floor, this room features Japanese style tatami floor matting. Up to three guests can sleep here, on Japanese-style futon beds that can be packed away during the day. There is a shared bathroom just next door with a shower and two washstands. A separate toilet is nearby, too.

Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Yukimine is located in Niseko’s Kabayama district, just neighbouring Hirafu – Niseko’s busiest and most famous ski village. The Kabayama / St. Moritz neighbourhood is a quiet one, and Yukimine sits towards the end of its block, with trees surrounding the chalet on one side. Central Hirafu is a 1km walk from Yukimine, while the nearest ski lift is just 800m. It’s a perfect mix of being close to the action while away from the hustle and bustle.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
The nearest lift is Hirafu’s Family lift, just 800m from Yukimine. You could walk in the morning, or take the free village shuttle that stops at St. Moritz along the main road, just two minutes’ walk from your front door. If you don’t mind the walk you can get around without a car, or if you bring one Yukimine offers undercover parking on-site.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
Just next door, Always Niseko’s hotel restaurant serves reasonable meals throughout the winter season. Head east towards Hirafu for Seicomart convenience store, and the many food trucks, restaurants and shops that line Hirafu’s main street. Or head west for Kabayama’s Gentem Cafe and showroom. Try La Villa Lupicia’s gourmet creations over lunch or dinner, or take something tasty home from their deli or gift shop.
