Completed in 2018, Soseki is one of a collection of impressive modern ski chalets erected in the lower village. It sits in a more residential area in Lower Hirafu, close to Middle Village so you get the best of both worlds: peace and quiet while enjoying the chalet, but never too far from all that après-ski fun.
Generously built over three levels, Soseki brings together elegant Japanese minimalism where there’s not too much (nor too little) of anything but everything is done juuust right, and high-quality Italian furniture. Living areas have an open floorplan and they are thoughtfully located on the top floor to maximise the views and natural light throughout the day. One of the standout features is the generous outdoor deck which boasts a feature gas firepit, perfect for curling up with a cup of cocoa to admire the snow-covered views.
The six-bedroom chalet offers a whole array of sleeping arrangements for guests to choose from. Two master bedrooms feature king beds and two guest bedrooms can be either kings or twins, based on your preference. The chalet also has a fun bunk room for the kids and a traditional tatami room with futon mattresses laid down on the floor. The bedrooms are all either en suite or have a bathroom close by and on the ground floor, there is a large stand-alone bathroom with a huge Japanese style bath – the perfect remedy for sore muscles acquired on the slopes.

Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Soseki is located in a convenient, snowy Lower Hirafu location walking distance from the centre of town. This is a really charming part of Niseko – it’s a fairly quiet and laidback part of town with a few restaurants and bars tucked away inside small houses and buildings buried in snow.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
From Soseki it’s about 10-15 minutes walk up hill to the ski lifts. Better catch the free village shuttle which stops just metres from your door. The free village shuttle runs from 8am-9pm and can whisk you up to the lifts, or anywhere around Hirafu in that time. The bus direct to Hanazono also stops at this stop.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
In the network of streets surrounding Soseki you’ll find a dozen or more classic little Niseko establishments – charming izakaya restaurants that could offer you literally one of the most enjoyable dining experiences of your life, and a handful of bars including the iconic “Fridge Door Bar” – aka Gyu+.
