About Meishu no Yutaka

Meishu no Yutaka is a family-run liquor store that carries 400+ kinds of sake, wine and shochu. It was founded in 1901 as Kumada Shoten in Minami Furano, but later relocated to Sapporo. The fourth generation store owner, Kumada Hirokazu, began carrying locally-brewed liquors about five years after he took over the family business and in 1994 turned the shop into a specialty store. Since then, Meishu no Yutaka has become a pioneer among liquor stores in Hokkaido, specialising in local sake.

About Niseko Art Foundation

Niseko Art Foundation was launched in 2023 with the goal of nurturing Niseko art development while facilitating dialogue and collaboration among overseas and local artists. Its space is located in Hirafu, Kutchan Town, the heart of Greater Niseko. In addition to art, the foundation also embraces all forms of cultural collaboration.

Niseko Art Foundation’s first exhibition in Tokyo

Niseko Art Foundation’s first exhibition, entitled “OFF MENU 東風”, featured two Hong Kong artists, Lousy & David Leung, and took place at Sansiao Gallery in Tokyo in the fall of 2023. The collaboration across photography and painting was inspired by the excitement of urban life and the fun of experiencing various flavours.

Niseko Art Foundation’ first collaboration in Niseko

Niseko Art Foundation has debuted a very special collaboration with Offshore Snow Shapes, a handcrafted snowboard brand in Niseko, and the Beasts from Feasts art collection created by David Leung, a Hong Kong contemporary artist.

More Niseko Art Foundation events are coming to Niseko in 2024, so please stay tuned for updates. Niseko Art Foundation taps into the creative forces of brands that carry the same attitude, the right influence, and the same dedication to progression.
