Skiers will have to pay for parking at the car park in front of the Welcome Center in Hirafu, starting from this winter.
Kutchan Town decided to implement parking fees at Hirafu Parking Lot #1 as a solution to alleviate congestion, and will experimentally charge for part of the car park from Winter 2023/24.
This decision is part of a parking lot redevelopment plan currently under consideration.
Taking in account the results of the experiment, the town aims to finalize the redevelopment plan within the fiscal year of 2023.
While the town plans to charge for the entire parking lot after the redevelopment, specific details such as the fee amount and whether fees will be implemented during the summer has not yet been determined.
