Hokkaido Earthquake

A minor earthquake shook Niseko on 11 June at 6:55pm.

 

The epicenter was off the coast of Urakawa Town in Hokkaido, more than 150km northeast of Niseko Town.

The earthquake registered a weak 5 on the Japanese “shindo” scale, equivalent to a magnitude of 6.2.

Kutchan Town experienced a shindo 3, while Niseko Town felt a shindo 2.

Compared to other parts of Japan, the Niseko area has few earthquakes.
