Stunning new architectural CGs released for Odin Hills provide a further glimpse into the aesthetic the Hanazono estate development will take on.

Developer Odin – a pioneer of European-style alpine luxury in Niseko – released the images as it announced the launch of phase 2 of the project.

The designs have been developed in collaboration with renowned Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Shigeru Ban.

Owners will be able to choose from four chalet designs that have been developed to complement the natural landscape.

Interiors will range from 295 to 615sqm and feature customisable floor plans, and will include onsen-style family baths.

Shigeru Ban, known for his innovative use of unconventional materials, was named the 37th recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2014 for his designs, humanitarian work and leadership for the next generation of designers.

Bjorn Fjelddahl, Partner at Odin Property, conveyed the excitement of the Odin team in collaborating with the renowned architect on his first project in Niseko.

“We are thrilled about our collaboration with Shigeru Ban. He is so passionate and hands-on and he brings his very unique vision and perspective on things”, he said.

While Ban has designed multiple high-end international projects, he may be most famous for his DIY emergency shelters made of cardboard tubing and paper, which were first designed for victims of the 1995 Kobe Earthquake and since have been used around the world.

Regarding Odin Hills, Ban said that his firm, Shigeru Ban Architects, was tasked with developing their own vision for contemporary luxury alpine chalets.

“We took inspiration from Odin’s philosophy of natural luxury and created a platform of flexible designs adapting to the variety of locations available at Odin Hills and maximizing the fantastic surrounding views,” said Ban.

Odin Hills, a 16ha luxury village located in Hanazono that aims for a Japanese-European aesthetic, will include a boutique hotel, the “O Lodge” clubhouse, a spa and onsen (hot spring) and individual luxury homes overlooking a stream.

Fjelddahl said the clubhouse would be the beating heart of the Odin Hills community.

“It will feature an onsen / spa, vibrant F&B, wellness and social spaces, and it also provides a ‘basecamp’ for all the needs of our owners like management, maintenance and concierge services.”

Fjelddahl says phase 2 has just been launched with 26 lots, while 25 lots have already been sold across both phases.

The first Shigeru Ban house is expected to be completed this December.
