NISEKO NEWS

A famous ramen shop from Hokkaido’s far northern Rishiri Island is coming to Niseko.

According to reporting by The Hokkaido Shimbun, Rishiri’s Ramen Miraku will open a year-round branch in Kutchan this October, in the hopes of being busy during Niseko’s winter season in contrast to in Rishiri, where the busy season is the summer.

The permanent opening plans follow a limited opening from mid-December of last year to mid-March of this year, which proved popular with locals and foreigners alike.

As with the limited opening, the permanent restaurant plans to source local produce for use in its ramens, which will include soy sauce, miso and salt broths.

This is the third Ramen Miraku in Japan, the second being part of the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum in Yokohama City where ramens from all over Japan are available.

The opening is one more restaurant in a trend of eateries popping up in the Niseko area as winter tourism has returned and green season tourism is growing.
