Niseko’s Legendary 90-Year-Old Calligrapher, Yoko Arano’s Exhibition Coming Up

Niseko’s legendary 90-year-old calligrapher, Yoko Arano, will have her solo art exhibition at the Arishima Memorial Museum starting from 11 January.

 

Born in 1933 in Kitami, Hokkaido, Yoko Arano has been passionate about calligraphy since her childhood and has been awarded prizes throughout her art career.

The exhibition will feature her ‘Bokusho’, or avant-garde calligraphy art pieces.

An opening event for the exhibition, offering drinks and refreshments, will be held on the 12th from 2pm to 4pm.

Tsukino Katsura, a well-established sake brewery from Kyoto, will be joining the event.

The dress code of the event is smart casual.

The exhibition will be open daily except for Mondays from 9am to 5pm, until 10 March.
