Niseko’s Cinema Caravan Festival Is Coming In August

This summer, Niseko Hirafu Green Park, a culinary, music, film, arts and outdoor activities festival, will take place in Hirafu Kogen Central Park from 15 July through 3 September.

Part of the larger Niseko Hirafu Green Park experience will be a two-day outdoor film festival, called Cinema Caravan, from 11 August (Friday) 13 August (Sunday).

Cinema Caravan, a film festival revolving around an outdoor screen, is made up of an eclectic collective of artists based, this year, around the concept of “play with the earth”.

The Cinema Caravan film festival concept started at the Zushi Beach Film Festival in Kanagawa in 2010, before spreading throughout Japan and to Spain, The Netherlands and Indonesia.

For the Cinema Caravan part of Niseko Hirafu Green Park, the festival grounds will spill over onto the Hirafu Daiichi Parking Lot.

Held with the aim of further turning Niseko into an all seasons destination, Niseko Hirafu Green Park is free to the public and sponsored by Tokyu Corporation and various public and private associations in Niseko and Kutchan.

Outdoor activities will include a bicycle pump track and slacklines.
