NISEKO NEWS
Visitors to Niseko can now fly into town via helicopter from New Chitose Airport, cutting travel time to about 30 minutes.
According to reporting by The Hokkaido Shimbun, a round trip ticket costs about JPY3,000,000 (US$19,800) and can be booked online.
The new service was launched by Kawasaki Heavy Industries which already has experience providing helicopter transfers from Tokyo to regional destinations.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries anticipates 20-30 people will use the service each year, starting with those visiting for the green season and continuing into the winter ski season.
The landing area is in Hirafu on territory owned by Kutchan Town, although that and the specific departure point at New Chitose Airport are subject to change.
