NISEKO NEWS
An exhibition of works by Niseko resident Haruyo Kishimoto is being held at the Shu Ogawara Museum of Art in Kutchan.
The exhibition, “Plants & Animals”, features 29 oil, watercolour and pencil drawings.
Kishimoto san’s art is known for its precision and fantastical style, drawing inspiration from surrealism.
Concurrently, a joint exhibition called “O Maru!” will be held in the museum, featuring works from five museums in Shiribeshi Subprefecture, including the Shu Ogawara Museum of Art.
Maru means “circle” in Japanese, and each museum, in its display of the various works of art, is interpreting the concept of circle through its exhibition.
Shu Ogawara Museum of Art’s “Plants & Animals” and “O Maru!” exhibitions will both run through 24 September.
Adult admission is JPY500. The museum is closed on Tuesdays.
