Kutchan’s Town Planning Council has approved new guidelines to ensure future developments exist in harmony with the natural landscape.

The guidelines, which were developed with local input over this year, were approved by the Town Planning Council on 8 June and will go online from 1 October.

In addition to expanding the planning area under which the new guidelines apply to include Takasago and Hirafu, the regulations include stipulations on the plot sizes of developments to limit overcrowding.

Under the new regulations, the floor area of new accommodations and facilities will be limited to 10,000sqm (3,025 tsubo).
