Kutchan Town is planning to develop and sell a former daycare center site as residential land, the Hokkaido Shinbun newspaper reports.
The 4,100sqm (1,240 tsubo) plot of land, located in the city area will be divided into seven lots for one-unit houses, with sizes ranging from about 330 to 350sqm (100-107 tsubo).
The sales price is not yet determined, but the land is expected to be sold mainly to families raising children and new residents.
The town will announce the sale on its website by the end of this year, and if there are too many applicants, the property will be sold by lottery.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early May and finish by the end of October.
