NISEKO NEWS
The Japanese government has dropped its COVID border measures, allowing passengers to enter the country without submitting proof of vaccination or negative test reports.
The restrictions, which were previously scheduled to expire on 8 May, ended early on 28 April as the country prepares for an influx of overseas travellers during the Golden Week holidays.
The government also plans to downgrade COVID’s classification under the Infectious Disease Law to Class 5, the same category as seasonal influenza on 8 May.
Before the restrictions were dropped, passengers were required to provide proof of at least three COVID vaccinations or negative test results from within 72 hours before departure.
