A groundbreaking ceremony was held 6 April for eco-friendly village Niseko Mirai, a development funded by the Niseko town, the Hokkaido Shinbun newspaper reports.
The first condominium in the first stage is scheduled to complete in February next year.
The first two-storey wooden building with eight units has already been sold out, receiving about 60 inquiries after sales began in October last year.
Construction of the first block of 16 condominium units and 16 rental units will begin next year.
The second to fourth blocks are expected to be developed by 2028, accommodating up to 450 permanent residents.
