HOKKAIDO NEWS
On 8 December, Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport opened a dedicated terminal for business jet travel.
With separate facilities for immigration, a separate parking lot and two luxury lounge spaces, wealthy travellers can use the facility 24 hours a day, with fees starting from JPY500,000 (US$3451).
The operator is the international service Universal Aviation, which already works at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and supports business jet travel.
The opening of New Chitose’s business jet terminal was done in anticipation of a continued influx of foreign travellers to Japan in the aftermath of Covid.
New Chitose is hoping to attract high-net-worth business travellers as a source of revenue.
