NISEKO NEWS
The Miyata Viaduct, a 1136m bridge that is part of the Hokkaido Shinkansen extension, has commenced construction in Niseko.
Construction will proceed in two sections, one in the Miyata area and one in the Satomi area, with completion anticipated for June of 2026.
Full-scale construction began in Miyata on 31 May, and will commence in Satomi in July.
The viaduct will ultimately vary from 7 to 20m in height in Miyata and 7 to 10m in height in Satomi.
The cost of the project is about JPY7.8 billion yen (US$56 million).
