The Rusutsu Chalets development is a new estate located within the Izumikawa golf course. The two-story, four-bedroom Sirius design is one of two that Rusutsu Chalets offers.
The layout is geared for comfortable living: an open-plan living area and master bedroom downstairs, and three bedrooms and reading nook upstairs. The upstairs floor plan is smaller to create some gorgeous loft ceilings, namely in the living room and master suite. Imported furniture, designer light fixtures and finishes (Italian tile in every bathroom!) add grace and luxury to each space. Sirius is stylish but not austere: wood floors, exposed hardwood beams and columns create a rich and warm vibe.
At the heart of the chalet is the open-plan living area. Relax in the semi-separate living room, enjoy meals at the feature dining table, or cook up a storm in the full-size, featre-packed kitchen with island counter and breakfast bar. There is an undercover garage that connects directly to the laundry/dryroom. Where Niseko’s premium real estate prices mean smaller and cozier floorplans, you never feel cramped in Sirius. This chalet makes an excellent secluded hideaway, but it’s also a great setting for entertaining. Some fun features to wow guests: the outdoor fire pit with deck seating, the wide terrace (heated under-tile to help keep the snow off in winter) and the outdoor Jacuzzi bath. Lovely!

BEDROOM 1
A truly stunning bedroom suite with massive loft ceilings adding to the grandeur, and floor-height windows on three sides of the room letting in plenty of natural light. Two guests sleep in a double bed here, as well as plenty of floor space. Guests can store their clothes in a walk-in closet in the entrance. The room is home to two nightstands, a sofa couch, and a massive flat-screen TV with ethanol fireplace. and a lovely feature wall with stone finishing running the full height of the room. The en-suite bathroom has its own shower, bath and toilet.

BEDROOM 2
The second bedroom is located on the upper floor. Two guests can sleep here in one double bed. Furniture-wise there is also a coffee table with chairs, a closet for storage, a flat-screen TV and a bench at the end of the bed. This room has its own en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and washstand.

The third bedroom is is a little smaller than the second, located on the upper floor. Two guests can sleep here on one double bed, and the room also has a closet for storage, and a small seating area with coffee table. The shared bathroom is just outside this room, with its own toilet, shower and washstand.

The fourth bedroom is similar to the third, and shares the upstairs bathroom. Two guests can sleep here on one double be. Furniture-wise the room also has a night stand, a bench at the foot of the bed, and a small seating nook with coffee table There is a closet for storage. The shared bathroom with shower, toilet and washstand is just outside, and a quiet seating area is just next door on the upstairs landing.

Rusutsu Chalet Sirius
Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Rusutsu Chalets Sirius are located on blocks 1 and 2 of the Rusutsu Chalets development, housed inside Rusutsu Resort’s Izumikawa golf course. It’s a great location for golfers in the summer, and also a very quick drive to Rusutsu Resort’s lifts in winter. Winter transforms the golf tees into beautiful snowy fields and forests, giving you plenty of chances to soak in the scenery. You can catch glimpses of Rusutsu’s Mt Shiribetsu lit up in the distance. It is a quiet, secluded neighbourhood just far enough from the busy highway.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
Rusutsu’s West Mountain lifts are a quick 3-minute drive from the property, and property management provides a car during your stay to help you get around. This is where you’ll find the hub of Rusutsu: the resort towers, convenience store, and a few local restaurants. Or, keep going to East Mountain for a less popular access direct to East Mountain. If you need shops and civilisation, Kutchan is a 30-minute drive north, via Kyogoku or Makkari villages. Or drive south for beautiful Lake Toya and the seaside.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
Rusutsu is quiet in terms of dining. You can find pricey restaurants within the Rustusu Resort towers, and two or three independent restaurants outside at the resort hub – not a lot of options for the number of guests, so each of them very busy throughout the winter season. Rusutsu Village and Kimobetsu Village are the nearest non-resort villages, and each offers two or three small local eateries: much better priced and less packed as few staying in Rusutsu make the drive out.

The contemporary design of this chalet appeals to me. During my recent visit, I was impressed by its excellent condition. Its close proximity, just a few minutes’ drive from Rusutsu ski resort, makes it a convenient choice. Additionally, in the summer, the nearby golf course situated across the road adds another delightful dimension to the chalet’s appeal.

Fantastic winter chalet in Rusutsu with 4 bedrooms, spacious living room, outdoor areas with fully equipped kitchen and comfortable dining area. All rooms have a double bed so do keep this in mind. I recommend hiring a car when staying out this way so you have the freedom to access the town and ski lifts.
