Niseko Auberge de Frying Pan (or Lodge Frying Pan) is a quirky and loveable family run pension headed by awesome father-and-son chefs and their lovely wife and mother. They have many return visitors and all guests are welcomed on arrival with smiles and immediately made to feel at home, which is a great way to start your holiday.
It’s located in a quiet spot in the middle of the Annupuri pension village which is set amidst beautiful forest and snow piled up everywhere you look. It’s an amazingly beautiful, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. And it’s just a few minutes walk to the lifts. This is certainly a more traditional ski holiday experience location than being in busy modern Hirafu. Especially with your hosts giving you a personal country style hospitality. It’s like going back in time to the mountains of Japan.
The lodge has nine bedrooms and features in house cooking which can be included in the price of your accommodation. The food is exceptionally good and priced very reasonably. For example there is an excellent steak meal for dinner. The steak is delicious and comes with a side of soup and bread, as well as a small dessert and a coffee. Total cost: Y2500 (about $25USD). If the owner notices you don’t eat something they’ll probably offer you something else for your next meal – it’s that kind of place!
Niseko Auberge de Frying Pan Accommodation
Niseko Auberge de Frying Pan has 9 rooms and all are Western style – that is they have beds rather than Japanese style futon mattresses that re laid on tatami (woven straw mat) floors. The rooms aren’t huge but are beautifully furnished. There are no ensuites off any of the rooms but the communal facilities are always kept super clean. There’s shouldn’t be any need to queue for the bathrooms, toilets or wash basins. Rooms have single or double bedding and in-room heaters. The lodge has a good ski storage and drying room
Niseko Auberge de Frying Pan Location
Niseko Auberge de Frying Pan is located in the quiet peaceful surrounds of the Annupuri pension village. Its just a few minutes walk to the lifts, and there are several great restaurants nearby, in fact, two that Michelin Guides recommended as great places to eat in their Hokkaido edition.
Annupuri is also an onsen hot sprting baths hot spot (pardon the pun) and you can walk to several of these from the lodge. There are several more within a short drive and the lodge hosts may drive you to these.
