Lodge Koropokkuru was one of Hirafu’s original old pensions hotels before being completely remodelled for modern-day ski travellers in 2015. It’s located just off Hirafu-Zaka St, which is the main road running up to the Ace Quad lift from the main intersection in town. The lodge has both Western and Japanese style rooms offering comfortable and affordable accommodation for all ages.
The lodge is a family-run business, meaning the service is always friendly and personal. The owners are on-site for assistance throughout the day and are happy to help you with any questions or concerns you may have during your stay.
Standard rates include breakfast daily, and rates including dinner can be arranged. Breakfast is a mix of Japanese and Western options. The lodge has wireless internet access throughout at no additional charge. In the summertime, they have a tennis court available for hire, and offer other activities such as rafting, golf and barbeques.
Lodge Koropokkuru Accommodation
Lodge Koropokkuru has 30 rooms, the majority of which are Japanese-style, however there are a handful of Western-style rooms available. Japanese rooms have tatami (traditional woven straw mats) flooring and guests sleep on futon, which are thin Japanese-style mattresses. The bedding is quite comfortable for most, however you might find it a little tricky getting up in the morning if your legs are particularly sore from skiing or boarding! If you want a Western-style room you’ll need to request it in advance.
Some of the rooms have ensuite bathrooms but the majority of rooms do not, meaning guests will need to use the communal bathrooms. As well as toilets and showers, there is a Japanese-style bath in the lodge as well for those who want a more authentic experience!
Lodge Koropokkuru Location
Lodge Koropokkuru is located just off Hirafu-Zaka street in the heart of the upper village – you can’t get much a much better location, especially for the price!
The Ace Family Run can be accessed via the Ace Family Pair lift, which is a short walk down the main street from the lodge. For more advanced skiiers and boarders, the Ace Pair and the Ace Quad lifts are located at the top of the main street, also a short walk from the lodge, and provide access to the higher parts of the mountain. Both the free village shuttle and the Niseko United shuttle (which will take you to the Niseko Village and Annupuri ski areas) stop just across the other side of Hirafu-Zaka St.
There are heaps of restaurants and bars all within walking distance of the lodge so you’ll never be stuck for somewhere to eat. There are also several onsens (Japanese hot spring bath) within walking distance – Hirafutei Prince Hotel is just up Hirafu-Zaka St and across the road from the lodge, and offers both male and female indoor and outdoor baths. A soak in the mineral-rich waters of a steaming hot onsen is just the cure for aching legs after an epic powder day!
