St. Moritz is a quiet residential neighbourhood that retains much of Niseko’s traditional charm, and Ryoun blends in gracefully to its surroundings. It is a stylishly designed chalet that cleverly uses the slanted ground to its advantage. While windows facing the road and neighbourhood are minimal, on the Yotei side they are generous and floor-to-ceiling, letting in plenty of light and views of both forests and mountains, with the glimpse of a charming chalet here and there between the trees.

The street entrance leads in to the second of three floors, with an undercover garage connecting straight to a ski storage room. The master bedroom is also on the entrance floor, making the most of the view with floor-to-ceiling windows and its own private balcony. Head down the stairs for the first floor living area and kitchenette, third and fourth bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Head upstairs for the larger upstairs living room with full kitchen, dining suite and living room suite. Bedrooms are spread across floors, with one on the third, another (the expansive master suite) on the second, and the additional bedrooms on the ground floor. With bunk beds and study desks, the downstairs bedrooms make a great space for children, or those that need to do a bit of work or concentration on their trip. The third-flooor living room is the main draw, with dining table seating for eight, a cozy sofa lounge with flat-screen TV and floor-to-ceiling windows looking towards mt Yotei. The living room also has its own balcony.

The first floor living room has a small kitchenette, letting guests separate into two groups or come together as needed. The upstairs living room comes with a more substantial, full-feature kitchen with all the appliances and fittings needed to cook up a feast.

Ryoun
Location

SETTING / ATMOSPHERE

Ryoun is located in St. Moritz, just down the road from Hirafu Village and a quick drive from all of Niseko’s ski slopes. St Moritz is a peaceful residential neighbourhood, a great location for those looking for a little more privacy and connection to nature, as there is plenty of green space remaining between chalets.

LIFTS / TRANSPORT

Hirafu’s main ski slopes are a just a five-minute drive up the road, while Niseko Village is a 10-minute drive away. Property management helpfully offers a ski shuttle each morning (which you need to prebook). Otherwise, a car is recommended to access groceries, restaurants and the Niseko area’s famous onsen hot springs.

RESTAURANTS / BARS

St Moritz is mostly all chalets, but a reliably delicious bite to eat can always be had at Always Niseko’s first floor restaurant. Otherwise, all that Hirafu has to offer is a short drive in to town by car or taxi. Though there isn’t a footpath, the walk back from Hirafu Village is around 20 minutes if you need to get back after a night on the town.

    Nila

I love this stylish and modern chalet. Each of the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Located in Outer Hirafu so you might need to hire a car to get around easily.

  2. Avatar for Alastair

Ryoun packs a lot into three floors. A complete no-brainer if traveling with teenagers: the downstairs den (media room with kitchenette) makes the property ideal for groups with different sleeping hours / concepts of entertainment.

  3. Avatar for Dwiari A

    Dwiari A

Situated in the tranquil West Hirafu area, Ryoun offers ample space for family or group trips to Niseko. The rates are budget-friendly, accommodating up to 8 guests comfortably. The living area, with its picturesque view of Mount Yotei, adds to the allure of this chalet, making it an ideal spot for enjoying the winter season. For added convenience, I would recommend considering a car rental during your stay at this chalet.
