The Kouzan Woods development lies just off Route 343, in a little slice of Niseko otherwise occupied by residential houses and forests. Completed in 2021, this side street houses 4 Kouzan Woods chalets in total – two of them in private hands, and two available for winter stays.
These two-storey, three-bedroom chalets have a lovely geometric “house” shape. Visually they feel just as much warm and cozy as they do sleek and modern thanks to the light hardwood floors and ceilings, with art pieces and cushions adding a nice splash of colour and vibrance. The steeple ceilings and loft entrance make everything light and airy and fill the space with plenty of natural light – the floor-to-ceiling glass windows on the second floor help too! The views toward the back of each chalet are especially lovely, drawing you deep into the forests outside. Despite vast glass walls you’ll stay toasty warm with a feature fireplace in the living room and underfloor heating throughout.
Downstairs you’ll find three bedrooms and two shared bathrooms, one of them with a rain shower and stunning onsen-style soaking bath, with a beautiful dark stone tile finish. The upstairs is home to an open-plan living, dining and kitchen – a dining table with seating for 8, the kitchen comes with marble island with breakfast bar seating. For the powder hounds there is a ski storage room just off the main entrance. For a modern Japanese design flair, there is also a tatami floor section upstairs that connects to the private balcony. A great, self-contained stay for small groups that want to be away from the noise, and enjoy the freedom of choosing their mountain each day.

The master bedroom has sleeps two guests in a western-style, queen-size bed. There are ample windows looking out onto the woods outside, a closet for storage, and a desk and workspace. This is the largest of 3 bedrooms. The feature bathroom with shower and onsen is just opposite this room, and the separate toilet is just next door.

The next bedroom is the second-largest, located next door to the master bedrom. Two guests can sleep in western-style beds arranged in either 1 king or 2 singles, according to your needs. There is a small window letting light into the room, and an expansive closet for storage. There is a toilet just off the hallway outside, and two separate bathrooms to share between all occupants: one with shower, and another with shower and tub.

SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
The Kouzan Woods chalets are located in the Soga area of Niseko – just halfway between Niseko Village and Hirafu ski resorts. Fringed by forests and farms, each chalet has a generous land footprint and yard that gives you plenty of space between neighbours. Everything is an easy drive from this sleepy residential neighbourhood, plus you can choose which resort to head for based on the snow conditions each day.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
Located just off Route 343, Kouzan Woods chalets are less than 10 minutes’ drive to either Niseko Village or Hirafu ski resorts. This side road also connects into Niseko Town, quieter and less hectic than Kutchan while still hiding some great eateries, bars, as well as grocery stores and pharmacies. The property management provides a vehicle during winter months to get you where you need to go – as well as a pick up and drop off on arrival/departure.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
Route 343 connects Annupuri, Niseko Village, Hirafu and Hanazono ski resorts and quite a few choice dining options can be found especially between Niseko Village and Annupuri. Drive in to Niseko Village and up to the Hilton to enjoy their full selection of eateries, or into the town below for a few understated options. Or drive in to Hirafu for a wide range of popular options.
