Family friendly

Homerunner sits in St. Moritz, in the Kabayama district just west of central Hirafu Village. A quiet residential neighbourhood, St Moritz is home to a small, spaced out collection of chalets and homes and so still retains plenty of the natural forests that are fast disappearing in Niseko.

Style-wise, Homerunner opts for white walls, light wood surfaces and light grey furnishings and tiles to create a calm, serene modern decor while still retaining plenty of warmth. The chalet centers around a very spacious open-plan living, dining and kitchen area located on the second floor. The cozy sofa is positioned to take in not only the flat-screen TV, but also the silver birch trees and forests right outside the large feature windows. The kitchen is stocked with all appliances and utensils, a full-size fridge, and an island counter with movable tap to make cooking up a storm an absolute breeze. The counter doubles as a breakfast bar with two stools, to keep company while the chef does their thing.

Upstairs is also home to the master bedroom suite, while downstairs houses two additional bedrooms, a shared bathroom, laundry and ski storage nook. Out the front of the chalet there is parking space for one car (recommended), and the storage room is cleverly located with outside access to make loading and unloading your ski gear a breeze.

Homerunner
Location

SETTING / ATMOSPHERE

Homerunner is located in Niseko’s St. Moritz neighbourhood, often also called Kabayama. It is a short drive down the road and west of Hirafu Village. It is a quiet residential area where most houses are one or two-storeys, and is home to some year-round residents. Think secluded, peaceful, and away from the hectic main streets of Hirafu. The houses are well-spaced, with plenty of forest and natural landscape still remaining in between.

LIFTS / TRANSPORT

A car is recommended as the road in to Hirafu does not have a footpath, but brave souls do walk in to Hirafu Village with their skis or snowboards – it’s about a 20-minute walk to the Hirafu Intersection and Ace Family quad lift. Hirafu’s main lifts and parking areas are a 5-minute drive away, while Niseko Village is about a 10-minute drive. Property management helpfully offers an arrival and departure transport to/from your point of arrival.

RESTAURANTS / BARS

This neighbourhood is mostly all residential, with a few exceptions: you can grab a reliably tasty bite to eat inside Always Niseko’s Elements restaurant or sample some artisinal green tea at Green Saso. Snowboard maker Gentem’s showroom also serves drinks sporadically throughout the winter season – and has a stunning gallery space worth checking out. Otherwise drive in to Hirafu, or head out along Route 343 for some great restaurants that are best reached by car.

It is a cute little chalet which is perfect for a small group of friends or family. Located in Outer Hirafu so you might need to have your own car to get around easily.

Homerunner is super comfortable and light and airy – a great home away from home within a quiet neighbourhood. The resort shuttle bus stops a short walk from the property, however recommend having your own set of wheels to get around.
