Once an iconic Japanese guesthouse in Lower Hirafu, Gensei has been lovingly renovated into a 7 bedroom vacation home. It’s a gorgeous classic Japanese-style log cabin on the outside, refurbished and updated while keeping all the classic guesthouse aesthetics inside. The heart of Gensei is a massive living area with plenty of seating at tables, bar counters and vintage sofas, set around the wood log fireplace. New decorative and furniture pieces that were used to update the property fit super well with the old bones of the place: from vintage fabrics and zany fabric prints to old skis and funky rainbow footstools, this house is perfect for sprawling out with extended family, or maybe 10 of your closest friends.
There is an industrial kitchen with stainless steel finishings and plenty of space and tools to feed everyone. Expansive dining area and two lounge nooks mean your group can choose just how they’d like to mingle. For the media heads, a separate media room hides the flat-screen TV with streaming service – while the main living area is more about mingling and bonding together. There are seven bedrooms in total, each with carpetetd floors and western bedding. You can choose to book the property with 5, 6 or 7 bedrooms: the first five sleep two guests each. Depending on how you book, management will unlock the additional bedrooms, each of which has a single bed. There is one master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, while everyone else shares the Japanese-style unit bathroom with changeroom, shower and bath. There are also three separate toilets and washstands throughout the property, more than enough for everyone.
Property Management offers both a vehicle with the property for your use, and ski lift shuttles to get your whole group to the ski slopes in the morning.

Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Gensei is located in Lower Hirafu, the quieter downhill portion of HIrafu Village that rests down the road from the main street and intersection. Lower Hirafu has plenty of chalets and low-rise developments, and still retains plenty of natural charm with trees and snowy fields interspersing the buildings.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
The lifts are a 15-minute walk uphill, and the village shuttle stops nearby every 20 minutes – but luckily you won’t be pushing through the crowds in the morning as property management provides their own ski shuttle in the morning. There is also a vehicle provided with the stay, so you can get to groceries, restaurants or anywhere else you need to go for your trip.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
The Lower HIrafu neighbourhood offers the best of both worlds in Hirafu – nearby great restaurants and bars without the hectic, crowded feel of the more central parts of town. Ebisutei, Koharuya, Yo and Rin Izakayas are nearby, as are nightlife hotspots Moon Bar, Powder Room and Gyu+. If eating out in larger groups be sure to book your meals well before you arrive as Niseko’s restaurants quickly fill up!
