Asobidokoro sits in Lower Hirafu, near the free village shuttle stop. Built in 2008, this two-storey chalet still looks stylish on the outside, and feels contemporary on the inside.

Tasteful Japanese inspiration is sprinkled throughout Asobidokoro’s interior. The outstanding feature is a dining room with a low table sunk in to the floor a la Japanese Izakaya style. The chairs are at floor level, but a sunken central partition lets you stretch out your legs below as well. The dining room leads to an open-plan kitchen/living area.  Both the flat-screen TV (with speaker system) and gas fireplace are in just the right place to enjoy from the sofa. Feature-wise you have everything a large group needs for extended, self-catered living: the full-feature kitchen comes with a host of appliances and utensils, as well as a floating island with breakfast bar. Behind it is a separate laundry/utility room with washer and dryer.

Upstairs are all the bedrooms, two of them equipped with en-suite bathrooms. The master suite has a stunning Japanese-style, wood-lined bathtub with forest views outside for a tranquil soaking experience. Asobidokoro sleeps up to 8 guests – great for a larger family or group of friends. Best of all, Niseko’s most exciting ski village is easily walkable from your doorstep while still being far enough to enjoy some peace and tranquility.

Location

SETTING / ATMOSPHERE

Asobidokoro is located in Lower Hirafu, a short walk from the free village ski shuttle. This is a quieter residential part of Hirafu, with a few eateries and bars hidden away amongst the chalets. Asobidokoro’s neighbourhood still has some trees and green spaces to enjoy from your windows, and lets you enjoy the tranquility while being very close to everything you need.

LIFTS / TRANSPORT

There is a free village shuttle that stops a 5-minute walk from Asobidokoro, and takes you up to Hirafu’s main skiing hubs, which is plenty to get you to the ski lifts and back. If you’d like to stock up on your own groceries or travel further afield a car is recommended (and free parking included), with Kutchan Town and Niseko’s other ski fields about a 15-minute drive away.

RESTAURANTS / BARS

Hidden amongst ski chalets are some of Hirafu’s most celebrated local staples, from izakayas Rin, Ebisutei and Koharuya for delicious local food to the Powder Room and Gyu+ bars all a short walk away. Should you choose to conquer the steep hill to Middle Hirafu and above, all of Hirafu’s dining scene will be at your fingertips – just be sure to book in advance!
