Beautifully located on the edge of Hirafu village, the townhouses enjoy the best of both worlds – easy access to the village’s conveniences and the ski fields, and a quiet neighbourhood sitting amongst the trees. Their design takes advantage of their position with large picture windows framing the outside snowscape.

Built in a modern alpine style the developers have made generous use of timber and stone. Exposed timber beams accent the high ceilings, the floors are timber and the wide windows are framed in timber. The colour scheme’s warm tones enhance the snug atmosphere. An inviting feature is the second-floor living area with its high ceilings and picture windows which cleverly frame the picturesque outdoors. Better than a wide-screen TV! Privacy is assured in the lower-floor bedrooms with modern roll-down blinds.

The townhouses are split over two levels – bedrooms on the first level and spacious living area and kitchen on the second. There are two bedrooms, each with two singles sleeping four guests, but a fifth guest can be accommodated for an additional fee. There are two bathrooms, one with a western bath and shower, and two toilets.

Hana & Jo

Hana & Jo is located in Izumikyo 2 on the outskirts of Hirafu village, a quiet, wooded precinct ideal for a family holiday or those who don’t want to be right in the middle of the action.

The townhouses are not within comfortable walking distance from the shops and slopes but with the free shuttle bus stop a minute’s walk away the slopes are but a short 5-minute ride. There is also parking for one vehicle for those with their own transport.

Good fortune would have it that three or four well recommended restaurants and cafes are nearby, including the aforementioned Graubunden. Trying the local specialty, soup curry, is must-do and Tsubara Tsubara restaurant will see to that. If you decide to eat or shop in the village the shuttle runs until 9pm – after that it’s advised to take a taxi to avoid slipping on the roads and pavements if it ices up late.
