Akatsuki was built by a European family for their Japanese ski escapes, and is fully-equipped with everything a family or group could need. A modern, professional kitchen opens onto the luxurious living and dining area featuring lofted ceilings and a charming three-sided fireplace – the perfect spot to curl up at night with a glass of wine or a good book.
The house is cleverly designed with a ski drying and storage room at the front door, so you can dump your gear after a long day on the slopes. A good next move is to head straight for the family bathroom, with your own huge Japanese-style, hinoki-wood bath where you can soak your muscles while enjoying views of Mt Yotei.
If the action of the village isn’t enough to keep you entertained, there are three TVs with streaming media. The oak flooring is heated, and all rooms come with individually controlled heating. There are blackout blinds and day shades in all bedrooms, and a long list of luxury amenities promises this is one heck of a holiday home!

The first bedroom is located on the ground level, near the entrance and garage. This master bedroom features one king double bed. There is closet space, a reclining chair and coffee table, and a small study desk. The windows take advantage of Akatsuki’s placement on Hirafu’s bluff to give unbeatable views across the lower village towards Mt Yotei. The bedroom opens up onto a balcony that is shared with the second bedroom. The bathroom has its own bathtub and separate shower, two washstands and a toilet.

Located on the basement floor, the fifth bedroom sleeps up to four people in two bunk beds. There is a lounge suite with a flat-screen TV, creating a perfect play space for kids. The windows face Mt Yotei, with clear views of the Lower Village. En-suite there is a bathroom with two washstands and a shower. Across the hall, there is a separate toilet. Akatsuki’s feature Japanese onsen-style bath is housed in a special bathroom, located next door to this bedroom.

Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Akatsuki is in a prime position in Hirafu’s middle village, within walking distance to some of the village’s best restaurants and bars, some of which are located along the nearby, vibrant Momiji-Zaka Street. The chalet’s own street is more peaceful and the property is neighboured by other chalets and condos.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
It’s only a 10-minute walk to the Ace Family slope, with lifts to take you further up the mountain. But if you don’t feel like lugging the ski gear all that way, the free village shuttle stop is just metres away. There is parking and a garage if you want to hire a car.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
You’re spoilt for choice with Momiji-Zaka or “Eat Street” right uphill from the property. Find Ezo Seafoods, the Barn, and many other fine restaurants and bars on this street. Upper Hirafu is also close by with dozens more options. and convenience store a short walk uphill on the main street.
