Family friendly
Award winning design
Modern minimalist interiors

Media room
Japanese-style bath
Wood-burning fireplace

Hiyoku translates as “flying wing” and refers to the artful design of the chalet’s floating roof – the structure really appears to be flying. The chalet was designed as the ultimate escape for city goers looking to escape the crowds and the property is surrounded by pristine Hokkaido landscape. It should come as little surprise that this backcountry stunner has won more than one award for its cutting edge design and architecture.

Hiyoku spans some 200 square metres and the chalet is spread over two levels. Triple glazed glass helps minimise heating costs throughout the year, while the cleverly designed bedrooms allow the three-bedroom property to comfortably sleep up to eight guests (or 10 with extra bedding).

Located within a 15-minute radius of three ski resorts, Hiyoku caters to powder hounds with its carefully designed ski room crafted from a massive larch tree felled to the site. The Japanese style bath is perfect for soaking those muscles worn out on the slopes and the media room is tailor made for hosting an epic movie night with the whole group. If needed, this room can also be transformed into a fourth bedroom.

Hiyoku
Location

SETTING / ATMOSPHERE

Hiyoku is located in Tomikawa, on the outer edge of the Niseko ski valley. This is a peaceful locale where you’ll be surrounded by pristine Hokkaido forest and the Shiribetsu River, away from the crowds.

LIFTS / TRANSPORT

Once you get some wheels, you’ll enjoy easy access to some of the best skiing in Niseko. The Niseko Village, Annupuri and Moiwa ski lifts are all about 15 minutes away by car. Note that skiing in Moiwa requires its own lift pass as the resort is not part of Niseko United.

RESTAURANTS / BARS

Hiyoku’s charm is tied to the property’s secluded locale, so you’re not exactly surrounded by restaurants. A 15-minute drive to Niseko Village offers access to a host of great dining options and it’s only a bit further to reach the restaurants and pubs in Hirafu Village.

For those in search of tranquility, Hiyoku is the perfect recommendation. Delight in the Mount Yotei view from the living area, accompanied by the warmth of a cozy fireplace. Additionally, the chalet features a Japanese bath, providing the unique experience of enjoying the winter forest view with snow from the bath. I would suggest considering a car rental for added convenience in reaching shops and the ski resort during your stay.

Hiyoku is an architectural marvel: every room, every fitting, every view is incredibly beautiful. In addition to it’s visual beauty there is a river at the base of the property which adds a soothing soundtrack. There are layers to the wow factor of this stunning villa!

Brilliant chalet with incredible views. If you are looking for a dreamy property with views to die for, this is it! The onsen is my favourite feature as you can sit back and relax in style. Highly recommend hiring a car when staying out here so you have easy access to Annupuri, Niseko and lifts.
