Echo Rocks is a luxuriously modern two-storey chalet with an eyecatchingly stylish exterior. It sits just on the Happo end of Echoland, a few minutes’ walk from the Echoland bus stop and main street while being away from most of the chalets and pensions that sit further uphill. This sweet spot lets guests of Echo Rocks enjoy picturesque, panoramic open landscapes of Hakuba’s rice fields and village houses, with Happo’s ski slopes and the stunning Japanese Alps as a backdrop.
While stunning on the outside, Echo Rocks also delivers inside. Find four bedrooms and three bathrooms downstairs, generously spaced with windows showcasing those tranquil village views. Upstairs is home to an open-plan living, dining and kitchen space. The look throughout is light and airy, with grey stone floor tiling and light hardwood accents bringing a light yet refined feel to every room. While the floors are stone, you’ll be toasty warm with hydronic underfloor heating; individual temperature settings in each room let each guest adjust to their own taste. Each space is aligned to make the most of those gorgeous open vistas – the highlight is the open terrace nestled between living and kitchen areas. Cleverly roofed in to minimise snow clearing, this outside nook is the perfect space to soak in the snowy scenery after a long day on the slopes.
There is a full-featured kitchen, a dry room with heated boot racks, laundry with washer and dryer, and even a small nook bedroom for staff or an additional 9th guest. Up to three cars can park on-site (one with covered parking), and management provides a car for winter stays to help you get around, as well as regular shuttles to the supermarkets.

Echo Rocks is located in Echoland, which is a 16-minute walk from Happo bus terminal and 30 minutes’ walk from the nearest ski slope. Echoland is Hakuba’s famed entertainment hub, home to plenty of beloved restaurants and bars, as well as many chalets, pensions and villas. Echo Rocks is in a sweet spot, in quiet surrounds just 5 minutes from the main street and 3 minutes from the shuttle stop.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
The Echoland bus stop is just 3 minutes’ walk from Echo Rocks, with both the inter-resort and village free shuttles making a stop here. Management will pick you up on arrival in Hakuba, and offer a 4WD vehicle with the property for guests staying 5 or more nights. To get the most of the whole Hakuba valley, renting a car is recommended. Happo’s lifts are a 5-minute drive away, while Goryu, 47 and Iwatake are all under 10 minutes’ drive.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
Echoland is famous for its nightlife and eateries, and Echoland’s buzzing main street is just a 3-minute walk from Echo Rocks. Enjoy a wide variety of western, Japanese or themed cuisine as well as a host of bars and venues. Echoland also has a range of stores and equipment rental options in town. For groceries, the supermarket is a 5-minute drive and property management also offers grocery shuttles during your stay if needed.

Space, style and substance – Echo Rocks has it all! This four-bedroom chalet is a thing of beauty from all angles, whether you’re standing outside on Hakuba’s snow-covered streets to admire its edgy façade or kicking back on the living room sofas to enjoy the interiors.

It was a lovely place which we stayed in for about a week towards the end of winter of 22/23. A basic mini van was provided. Simplistically designed with function in mind. Snowboard storage room outside the main door and heated boots and gloves rack indoors.
4 bed rooms make up the lower floors. The first (from the main door) and the last were ensuite. Once you reach upstairs, a massive open space greets you. On one side sits the spacious living room with high ceiling and on the other is a well furnished kitchen with an island counter as well as a long table which comfortable sits 6 to 8. A small balcony nestled between the living and dining room allows you to enjoy the mountain view and fresh air.
