Buddha Chalet sits is a community of lodges known as Zen Chalets. Your neighbours will be other private chalets and the estate is surrounded by peaceful Nagano forest – oh, and did we mention the slopes are less than 200 metres away?
The property packs a lot of punch into its limited square metres, providing all the necessities needed for a Hakuba stay. Spread over a single floor, the open-plan living and dining room is flanked by two bedrooms which share a bathroom between them.
Buddha Chalet is a great choice for families, as one of the bedrooms is fitted with a set of bunk beds: the bottom bunk is a double bed and the top on a single, so the chalet can sleep five guests in its two bedrooms. There’s also a full kitchen for whipping up meals and Netflix and Apple TV hooked up to a projector.

Buddha Chalet is located in Hakuba’s Upper Wadano, opposite the Happo One ski fields. The chalet is surrounded by other properties of the Zen Chalet estate and fringed by tranquil forest.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
You’re in easy reach of Hakuba’s famous slopes: the Shirakaba Chair Lift is within a five-minute walk from the chalet, while Happo Adam’s Gondola is about 150 metres away.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
There are a few restaurants in the chalet’s surroundings, including Roots vegan restaurant and Unjaune burger joint. For more dining options, it’s only a short trip to the restaurants and pubs in neighbouring Echoland.

This is a cheap and cheerful chalet located in Hakuba’s Upper Wadano, opposite the Happo One ski fields. Pretty basic but great value if you are wanting a safe and comfortable base.
