The Fenix West hosts 44 apartments across floors 2-7, while the ground floor houses the reception, in-house restaurant, ski rental store and dedicated ski storage lockers. Each room has its own private balcony looking out to either resort views on the west, or town and mountain views on the east. SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Fenix West is located 2 minutes’ walk from the base of the Furano ski resort, surrounded by winding streets of Japanese ski lodges dotted with cutting-edge developments, a few small mom-and-pop restaurants and picturesque views. Cross the river and you’ll be in Furano town proper, with supermarkets, shops, pharmacies and a nightlife district just west of Furano station.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
Fenix West is located all of a block away from the Kitanomine gondola. Regular shuttle services in the winter season connect Furano ski resort with Furano station, as well as local onsens. Resort Liner buses run from Chitose Airport (3 hours), Sapporo City (2 hours 10 minutes) or Asahikawa Airport (1 hour). Furano Train Station is also a transport hub for train and bus services across Hokkaido.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
A short stroll through the surrounding ski village area will offer several options for dinner or drinks. Here is where Furano really shines – a short drive or ride on the evening shuttle in to Furano Town will open up your options drastically, with up to 200 options for reasonably priced dinners, trendy hideaway bars, or just supermarkets and pharmacies to stock up on what you need.

Fantastic apartments and hotel rooms for those wanting to explore Furano. You can hire a car and driver or self drive to Furano. Perhaps stay for a couple nights and pair it with a stay in Hirafu. You can’t go wrong with these well priced and central apartments located minutes from the lifts.

We were VERY impressed with our stay at Fenix West. It exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. The rooms are fresh and new. We were in a one bedroom deluxe apartment on the sixth floor. Room had great views down to the main part of Furano Town and surrounding mountain ranges. The room was well laid out and finished, and included all amenities for a self-sufficient day. While not ‘luxury’ per se all the important things were done well (I.e. fabulous bedding). We were pleasantly surprised that our room had a bath tub. Our only complaint would be that the kitchenette area was slightly too small and lacked bench top space, and the sofa was too small to be comfortable. I inspected the larger premier one bedroom, and would opt for this next time as the extra space makes a huge difference. The onsite ski locker room and drying equipment was much appreciated.
The location is very convenient for those skiing. A 2min walk to the ski lifts. While the other Fenix is closer, we didn’t feel hard done by in any way and actually preferred the smaller more intimate feel of Fenix West. The property offered complimentary shuttle services throughout the day and evening and this was an absolute game changer! We couldn’t have done without it and it made things very easy. The staff were always welcoming and helpful with a mix of both Japanese and Western staff. They helped us with everything from restaurant recommendations, to reservations, to suggesting nearby onsens. Thank you!
We would definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom premier apartment. The accommodation was nice and clean. The location is perfect if you’re skiing. The free shuttle service was great, you can go wherever you want without worrying about transport. But what made our stay special are the super helpful and accommodating staff. Experienced exceptional customer service at Fenix Furano
Experienced exceptional service here in Fenix Furano. Had a car accident prior to checking in at Fenix Furano, luggage was in the car at the accident site, stuck at the hospital after the accident at about 9pm at night with no transport in sight. Was desperate enough to call the hotel to assist in arranging transport and they responded by sending over their MPV to pick us all up to the hotel.
While at the hotel, I explained to them my situation and they were very empathetic and offered to send me to the accident site to retrieve my luggage! As the car was not in a safe position, I only managed to retrieve partial items.
They offered to send us to the nearest convenience store as well to buy food and other daily supplies for our family of six. – Already made three runs within the time.i checked in at the hotel.
Next day, they offered to send us to our planned activities as well within the furano area.
Towards the evening, when we still have not receive news from the tow truck company, I told them that if they are able arrange a taxi for me to go to the accident site to retrieve our luggage and they told me they will send me there again! Long story short, we managed to grab all our belongings from the car wreck that night thanks to their help to send us there while battling a snowing condition back and forth.
Big shout out to the amazing team at Fenix Furano: James, Harrison, Ash, Yuko and many more!

For my first trip to Hokkaido, I booked accommodation in Furano and Niseko and stayed at Phoenix West for 2 nights and 3 days. The address is hard to find, but it’s located diagonally across from Phoenix Furano. The lobby and entrance are very compact, and the walls in the rooms are thin (I could hear the baby’s cries from the next room). The water quality of the shower, the comfort of the bed, and the comfort of the linens were of high quality. I have stayed in many rooms in the past, but this bed was one that made my body feel light even when I slept for hours on end. The cleaning was also very good.
Although it has only been a year since the store opened, I feel that cleaning is really important and I would like them to continue to do so. As you drive around, you’ll come across a few food restaurants. There are also a few convenience stores. It’s 40 minutes to Biei Grazing Farm, and you should definitely go there if you’re in Furano. Also, an oden shop called Kazusho near Furano Station was excellent. Please let me use this hotel again when I come to Hokkaido. I hope it doesn’t become too popular to be booked. (*´-`)

Great hotel for family and/or group
My family stayed this hotel for 2 nights. This was our 1st time visiting Furano. This hotel is beautifully located on the top of hill with a nice view of the area’s hills from our room. There is Lawson in walking distance if you need to grab a quick foods or drinks. Our 2bd room was spacious with full kitchen and living room. For American tourists, there is very helpful English speaking hotel staff including the general manager. All staff were very friendly and thoughtful. My family really enjoyed staying at this hotel and would like to return when we have a chance.

Very comfortable stay right next to the gondola
Our group of 4 was very comfortable in Fenix Furano’s modern apartments.
Great views out across the town and of the ski slopes just a stone’s throw from the main entrance. The rooms are just a few steps from the Kitanomine gondola and there is a cafe downstairs, along with a Rhythm ski shop that offers rental and retail gear. Super convenient all-round! Would definitely recommend especially if you value comfort.

Second Time even Better!

Stunning modern property
Recently spent two nights at Fenix Furano and cannot wait to go back. Perfect location right by the ski resort and just a short drive away from the town centre. Lovely spacious apartment with really comfortable beds and good quality furniture. One bedroom apartment with interconnecting studio suite was more than enough space for our group of 5. Excellent communal spaces on the ground floor also, which are great for relaxing or even remote work.

Perfect combination of style & comfort in an excellent location directly opposite the Kitanomine gondola. The location makes it hard to beat for skiers and snowboarders but we stayed in summer and Fenix was still a superb base. Great views of the ski hill from the apartment, especially if you find yourself on one of the higher floors. Lots of space to relax within with plenty of modern fixtures and features. Highly recommended!

Fenix Furano is a phenomenal place to stay. Located just a few steps away from the Gondola station, the best location you can ask for. Absolute comfort, superb location for all season in Furano!
Our 1 bedroom Premier is spacious with efficient kitchen, luxury sofa to relax after a day out and about. The bed and linen is super comfortable. Everything is just perfect!
The view from the room is captivating and put you on holiday mood the moment you step in the room. Location is superb with many restaurants within walking distance, and Japanese konbini at your footstep. While it is at the heart of action, it is very quiet and peaceful.

Beautiful New Luxury Hotel in Furano!
Fenix Furano is certainly the best luxury accomodation in the Furano area. Stylish and comfortable. Spacious and relaxing. Located just a few steps away from the Furano Ski Resort Gondola, this is the best location you can ask for! We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. The new standard in Furano.
Having visited Furano a number of times in the past, I was excited to see the Fenix open for this winter, as previously the hotel selection in the area was lacking character and luxury. Fenix didn’t disappoint with a great location, stylish design and attentive service. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was perfect for our small group of friends. Our unit had great views out over towards the Daisetsuzan range, comfortable bedrooms, and a kitchen and dining area with ample space to invite a few people over. We visited primarily for skiing, and access to the gondola couldn’t be easier. Highly recommended! I am looking forward to returning.

Pricey, but new, and superb access to ski area
This is clearly a high-end luxury accommodation. That said, it’s not over-bearing luxury – the staff are super helpful but relatively hands-off. We stayed in one of the ‘superior’ hotel rooms (5th floor) and it was more like a very small apartment – we had had a small kitchenette, very self-contained. The windows at the end of the room are floor-to ceiling, wall-to-wall, allowing amazing views east towards the Daisetsuzan Range. They also have rooms facing the ski area. If you’re into resort skiing, and don’t mind paying for the newest and very best, this surely is one of the best options right now in Furano. Literally walk across the road and you’re at the gondola. One gripe – would have been nice to see an onsen somewhere in the hotel…maybe even a couple of private onsen? That said, there are plenty of options within short walking distance for a hot soak (natural onsen are all a drive away though).
