Furano is still a relatively undiscovered powder havn, so western-style, self-contained apartment options are few and far between. Completed in 2020, Furano’s ArtHouse Apartments fill that niche wonderfully.
There are seven premium apartments in total, housed across two floors. The building itself is architecturally fun and bold, without being obtrusive to its more traditional neighbors. Decor is modern and tastefully minimal, without being too cold or austere. Enjoy a touch of class with tiled bathrooms and hardwood floors. Each living area ends in floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of light, and also open onto private balconies with village views.
ArtHouse’s apartments also have all the mod cons you’d expect for an extended ski holiday in Japan’s powder belt. Both one and two-bedroom apartments are home to a full-size kitchen (with dining table in the two bedroom), as well as a cleverly stashed laundry nook with washer and dryer. There’s also a ski and coat rack at each entrance. Free parking is included, you might not need it as management offers a ski shuttle to the slopes each morning. Once you’re done for the day it’s a 10-minute walk home – easy as pie!

SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
The Arthouse Apartments are housed in Furano’s Shimogoro neighbourhood: a lovely enclave just a short 600m walk from the ski lifts. Find yourself surrounded by other new chalet builds, and enjoy Furano’s year-round charm with parks, temples, bars and restaurants in your vicinity.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
At 600 metres, Furano’s ski lifts are a just a 10-minute walk along flat, snow-ploughed roads. Property management provides a ski shuttle, as well as an arrival/departure shuttle to help you get around. If you bring a car (recommended if you want to see more of the area), there is free parking available out front.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
The famous Delice Cafe is a minute’s walk, while Bistro Le Chemin is 8 minutes away, and a few more main street restaurants a 15-minute walk. If these are full, drive into Furano town to enjoy cheap shops, an expansive downtown district with plenty of food and entertainment, as well as a host of fast food options and grocery stores.

We spend family time together in the living room at night which is priceless. It is cosy and comfortable. The apartment provides a full kitchen and a washing machine/dryer. Because Furano is in the middle of our Hokkaido trip, the washing machine helps a great deal for our clothes.
There is even an air-conditioner which works well when the temperature was high in one day. A car park right in front of our apartment provides great convenience. The apartment is located in the beautiful Shimogoryo area. It is right in front of the famous dessert shop – Furano Delice. We walk around early morning and evening. The neighbourhood is pleasant and beautiful.
