SNOWMAGEDDON

By 16th January 2012August 27th, 2013

YOU probably know that Niseko is one of the snowiest places on earth with 15m of powder in an average season. To put that in perspective it’s the height of a five-storey building. Well, this is not an average season!

Last month was epic, beating a 50-year old record and setting up this month’s great skiing. The Japan Meteorological Agency says this was due to an exceptional “double-La-Niña” year, but whatever the reason, it all adds up to smiles for Niseko visitors. If you’re in town you already know this – you’re one of the ones smiling.

And as we’re less than halfway through the season, these continuing snowfalls will only make smiles wider.
Those who have remained faithful to Niseko’s powder and have returned again are being repaid in spades – or snow shovels full… – by chris chan
