Snow covers ski runs for the first time

By 20th October 2012September 9th, 2013

ANOTHER little milestone reached with the first snow on Mt Annupuri – the home of Niseko’s four skis resorts.

The snap above was taken by Niseko Photography’s Yasu Shimanuki around lunchtime yesterday.

The mountain was shrouded in cloud overnight and all morning, but when the weather lifted it revealed what powder hounds live for at this time of year – the sight of snow dusting the ski runs.

Mt Yotei also received a good dusting, with snow filling gullies well down towards the bottom of the mountain – check out more of Yasu’s photos at Niseko Photography’s blog.

The autumn colours are starting to take hold and the gondola cars and chair lifts are being line up ready to go on the ski lifts.

As with every year around this time, anticipation is in the air – everyone knows winter is almost here.

Keep an eye on all the action in the lead up to winter from the ever changing, always amazing Niseko at Powderlife.com (sometimes cheesy, but always taking it easy;).
