Niseko’s Historic 2022/23 Season Draws To A Close

NISEKO NEWS
By Thomas Shomaker

It’s time to hang up your skis till next year.

Yesterday 7 May was the last day of the 2022/23 season in Niseko, which came to an end when Grand Hirafu closed its ski lifts.

Annupuri was also due to close yesterday, but warm early May weather led to snowmelt and the resort decided to close on 3 May, a bit earlier than scheduled.

The 2022/23 season saw abundant snowfall which, combined with pent-up demand from the COVID era, created a historic recovery for Niseko.

The resorts and accommodations are now turning their attention to the summer season, as Niseko continues its evolution into an all-season resort.
