Niseko Town’s annual natsu matsuri (summer festival) is planned to be held at Niseko Town Sports Park this Saturday, August 5, although there is rain forecast.

In case of bad weather, the festival will be rescheduled to the following day until 7 August.

The event’s official name is “Tanabata no Yube” meaning “star festival evening”.

Approximately 1500 fireworks will light up the sky starting from 8pm.

Before the fireworks display, there will be other activities such as hot air balloon rides, making lanterns, handheld fireworks, and sections where children can play with snow and engage in traditional games.

The festival will open from 2pm, and pets are not allowed.
