Niseko Snow Report // January 08, 2010

By 8th January 2010June 28th, 2014Niseko Snow Report

Last night was another snowless one, but at least the winds have finally blown themselves out.

Light snow is falling and is expected to slowly build through the day. Gentle winds mean that today will generally be a much more enjoyable day on the slopes – especially as much more of the mountain will be open!

Conditions are expected to improve through the weekend so be patient young grasshopper… Still a few days from an epic Niseko dump – but it’s coming…it’s coming…

It looks like we’ll see the top of the mountain and the high gates open – but be reeeeeally careful out there. The wind of the past few days will have scoured exposed faces and big icey cornices will be just looking for an excuse to come down. If getting hit by a block of ice the size of a fridge doesn’t appeal to you stay away from cornices please! And always check the Avvy conditions before you head out into the backcountry.
