Niseko Snow Report // January 02, 2010

By 2nd January 2010June 28th, 2014Niseko Snow Report

Snow.

Yeah, we got some snow… Pity the wind is so strong, but there’s no denying the quantity of snow. Approx 80cms fell over the last 24hrs – though it seems like more if you’ve had to repeatedly shovel snow!

This storm looks set to continue all day today, though the winds should lessen round lunchtime. Near gales high on the hill look set to keep the top of the mountain closed. Early this morning the resorts were only planning to open the very bottom lifts. If you find that idea less than fulfilling check for up-to-date info this before you head up.

Tomorrow should see the snowfall start to lighten up but will take another day or so to pass. Expect more of the hill to open tomorrow, but the back country gates will probably not open till 48 hours after the storm breaks. The Avalanche danger is extreme so please check the warnings.
