ROGER Donazzan has been appointed chairman and acquired a one-third shareholding in Hokkaido airport shuttle transfer company Skybus.

An Australian investor and lawyer, Donazzan was founder and former executive chairman of Nihon Harmony Resorts KK which bought Niseko’s Hanazono Ski Resort in 2004.

Last year he opened Paddy McGinty’s Irish Pub in Hirafu’s main street.

Skybus president Jeremy Churchill said Donazzan would play a strategic role overseeing management operations and providing advice and guidance for the company’s growth.

"Roger recognized the potential of Niseko long before many other companies set up in the area," Churchill said.

"With his expertise, guidance and capital, we will continue not only to provide a first class service during the winter months, but also focus on expanding our operations outside the ski season."

Donazzan said he was delighted to join the board of Skybus and help grow the company.

"Skybus is an exciting and dynamic company that has experienced rapid growth over the past few years," Donazzan said.

"I felt the time was right for a strategic capital investment to provide a solid foundation for future development of the business."

Skybus Co. Ltd (Japan) is the major provider of airport shuttle and transportation services for overseas visitors to Hokkaido, with regular shuttle routes to Niseko, Rusutsu, Furano, Tomamu and Sahoro.

It also provides charter/private hire services and door-to-door airport shuttle transport services to hotels in Sapporo.
