NISEKO’S Hanazono Ski Resort this weekend held a gala opening party to launch its new summer activity centre.

The event began with a tour of the new summer activities areas, including the new Mountain Bike Park, Bag Jump and Wakeboard Park.

More than 200 invited guests attended, including VIPs from the local area, including Kutchan mayor Seiji Fukushima, Niseko mayor Ryuichi Sato, council members and local business owners.

Mayor Fukushima gave a speech outlining the importance of the continued growth of Niseko’s summer tourism and congratulated Hanazono for their initiative.

Hanazono is one of four separately owned ski resorts that comprise the Niseko United.

The resort is owned and managed by Nihon Harmony Resorts, which was purchased by Hong Kong’s PCPD in 2008.

Harmony have since constructed Hanazono 308, an expansive day centre including a 250 seat restaurant, retail, ski hire and also serves as the centre of the Summer Activities Centre.

Hanazono’s summer offerings also include rafting, ‘ducky’ and canyoning trips down the nearby Shiribeshi River.

For golfers, Hanazono is also home to the Niseko Tokyu Golf Course, a championship 18-hole, 7,003 yards course.

The children’s activities include a tube slide and climbing wall.
