A false report incident for the ongoing Hokkaido Shinkansen construction is being investigated.

The Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency (JRTT) said on Wednesday that Kumagai Gumi, a construction firm, issued the false report in regards to a concrete test for tunnelling work in the Abuta District, which contains Kutchan and Niseko.

Kumagai Gumi cited a shortage of inspectors as its reason for not conducting the prescribed test.

JRRT is investigating the incident and believes that Kumagai Gumi’s false report may have been made to avoid construction delays.
