Niseko Snow Report // 07 February // 2012

By 7th February 2012June 28th, 2014Niseko Snow Report

Early indications are for a repeat of yesterday's warm temps this morning and with no overnight snow your best bet this morning may be to stick to the groomer. Maybe work on technique and / or fitness today to get ahead in tomorrow's expected freshies! For your current lift movements, click here.

The snow is just starting to fall as I type and we're expecting it to be with us for most of the week including solid falls later today, which should also help take the temps back down where they belong. The wind may also pick up through the day though hopefully it won't impact upon lift operations.

If you need your pow fix look to slopes away from night skiing and north / north-east facing as they should be in somewhat better condition. Some gates are expected to open today though as yesterday visibility may be the big issue. (There's not much point in hiking up in a white out if you don't know where you're heading, can't see anything, and can't open up because you don't know what's in front of you…) Check the backcountry report here for the latest info.

Hanazono has a snowboarding "Ride with the Pros" event today featuring big name K2 pros Wille Yli-Louma & Leanne Pelosi and a handfull of rocking local riders. Should be a good chance to get up close and personal with some pretty cool talent – and maybe they'll even let Wille loose on the coffee machine over there so he can feed his true passion: Coffee! More info here on that one.

Have a great day out there!!!
