Niseko Snow Report // February 27 // 2010

By 27th February 2010June 28th, 2014Niseko Snow Report

After a warm break the temps are back where they need to be. It is nice though to see the snow clearers get ahead of schedule. You forget how much of the roads you lose to snow during winter!

No fresh snow to report – but the groomers will have done a good job and the cold will help maintain snow conditions longer. Still, once the sun builds in intensity it will soften somewhat. We’re expecting more snow later in the week – but today should see clear conditions.

With nothing fresh and freeze / thaw conditions I’d be steering away from the trees & backcountry after a couple of days like we’ve just had. Check here for the latest Avalanche & gate info if that’s your thing.

If watching some of the world’s best boarders huck themselves off a massive jump for more than $100,000 USD and a new Land Cruiser appeals head down to Sapporo for the Toyota Big Air tonight. It’s a crazy spectacle – and if you’ve never seen any more of Japan than Niseko you can probably kill a few birds with one stone. A bit of culture, some shopping, and a crazy snowboarding party! There are a few Niseko companies doing tours down to Sapporo for the event. The boys from Niseko Pizza will be there representing so you can be sure there will be good food if nothing else!

See you there!
