Just when last week’s big dump started melting in earnest, we were treated to a beautiful overnight snowfall of ten centimetres.

Although it is not much compared to what we can expect in the next few weeks, it still got us all pulling out our gumboots for the walk to work, and looking at the Grand Hirafu Ski Resort with glee as we enjoyed the sight of the runs covered with the good white stuff!

Conditions warmed up during the day, and we were treated to a gorgeous rainbow, which stretched over Hirafu Village. Things got a bit slushy, but there is more snow forecast throughout the week and Niseko usually delivers with the best case scenario when it comes to snow, so fingers crossed!

Niseko Grand Hirafu is still due to open this weekend, and we are all waiting on tenterhooks to find out if this dream will become a reality! Watch this space!
