Westin Rusutsu Resort Seating Area | Rusutsu

Just as busy in the summer for the stunning nearby golf course, Westin Resort Hotel is a fantastic choice for any snow-obsessed group looking to maximise their time both on and off the mountain. Whilst the outdoor pool is closed during the winter, there’s an abundance of facilities available, including the Rusutsu thermal hot spring onsen, Spa, and Aroma treatment options as well as an indoor pool, fitness studio and tennis court.

On top of English-speaking staff, luggage storage, currency exchange and a 24 hour reception desk only serve to make the practicalities of international travel that bit easier. An airport shuttle service and a free local shuttle leaves the possibility of transportation issues irrelevant – but for guests wishing to explore the area further, care hire is also available onsite. Nearby Niseko is a 40 minute drive away, and serves as an extremely popular day trip for those wishing to explore a larger ski area with a livelier international ski village feel.

This striking hotel features 210 guestrooms across 23 floors – all of which are bi-level (spread across two stories) within the spacious room itself. This makes the Westin Rusutsu Resort hotel a great option for large groups of skiers and snowboarders, as well as for families. Family rooms are available, as are doubles and twins. Free Wifi is available throughout the hotel.

Note that with 23 floors, many guests prefer the views and prestige of staying on a higher floor. Floors 19 and above will be priced differently for that reason.

Westin Rusutsu Resort
Location

SETTING / ATMOSPHERE

Westin Rusutsu Resort is located on the East side of the Rusutsu valley, and has its own small ski lift taking guests directly into the heart of the resort’s wintery action.

LIFTS / TRANSPORT

As the ski slope was built around the hotel complex, the slopes are literally on your doorstep at the Westin Rusutsu Resort. Simply put your skis on in the locker room and head outside to enjoy the snow. There are regular bus services connecting the Niseko area to Rusutsu for day trips, and most major airport transfer companies will make stops at Rusutsu. Plane-wise, Rusutsu is much closer to the airport than Niseko for an easier journey in and out.

RESTAURANTS / BARS

Unlike nearby Niseko, there is not much of a village feel within the resort. However, the multiple attractions that Rusutsu has to offer make for an interesting spread of hotels, amusement parks, chalets and golf course developments which can be navigated after an exciting morning in the snow.

First time in Rusutsu, Stayed one night in 12-3-18, room no.1915, room is marvelous ! spacious, modern with fantastic view… our package not include dinner and breakfast so reserve the dinner buffet when check in and got discount coupon, receptionist was friendly and helpful… the dinner buffet was delicious, especially the snow crabs, so fresh…and lot of food for choose…
want to reserve the tomorrow breakfast buffet but the receptionist said no table but 5-6am… so unfortunately….try to walk-in but the line so long… maybe next time…
beyond that, I’d like to say some advice to hotel’s management ! During our stayed, the Taiwanese with child and some Chinese was noisy and rude, especially in public Onsen… The Taiwanese child running, loud and splash water to everywhere, they disturb me and anyone else, but their parent pretend nothing happened…crazy…they don’t even know what is “educate”, really lower quality guys… So please give them some guidelines and rules to clearly show them which is not allow in hotel’s public area…I just think which is so pity and not deserved that such amazing Onsen and hotel downgraded from that guys and I’d like to stay again in coming winter…so please tell them “behave themselves” . Thank you !

Incredible Experience/lots of fun in the snow
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Westin, what a beautiful and peaceful place to spend a time with my family, no crowds. We were greeted by their lovely staff on arrival, our room was spacious, very clean and the bed was enormous, my son was on a pull out on the floor below, so it was very private. Restaurants are limited so we ate in the hotel and outside, must book for external restaurants so you don’t miss out.

The Onsen there is incredible, think that they need to have an age limit though as some of the children and young teens ruin the experience. My husband and I went into Onsen and both experienced the same family from Oz, loud, children jumping in and out of the baths, just a nightmare (come on we need to be better travelers, respect the culture and country we are in. I had spoken to a few other Aussie families and they agreed with me, such a shame) get those kids out of there!

Other than that the hotel is lovely, the staff were great, and went out of their way to assist us, they do the best coffee in Rusutsu and you can get it take away from the main restaurant. Think their wine list needs a reboot, and also include some Yuzi and plumb wine and a few other Japanese favourites.

I do believe that they need more signage and information about where to get your lift passes and catch the gondola. To get to the East Mountain from the Westin you need to just catch the Tower Pair and you can buy lift passes there, took us two days to work that out, we kept catching the slowest monorail in the world and going to West Mountain first.

The Westin is a great resort, we truly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Best ski resort i ever been to.
From the very beginning, I find going to a resort of this level would be a luxury. But after I experienced it, the money worth spending. the resort got all you need from sports to fun.
39 trails, 10+ restaurants, with free monorail connecting westin and rusutsu north and south wing. most important and highest point of my trip – a fierce storm came on 3rd day of my trip. We were so worry about transportation going back to sapporo and place to stay. Staff there were really helpful and friendly. asking our endless questions on road condition and shuttle booking. And help us to get all sort of information including sending our snowbag directly back to HK. Truely 5 star service ! Recommend you go once a life time. Especially thanks to front desk staff who run the extra miles during the storm on earlier this week.
